Stepping Stones! Happy Birthday ETHAN

Ethan is my little boy who Has been through a lot in the past 3 years! He went from being the  most beautiful and  dark haired little angel you could possibly imagine! Then at two and half months my baby was jaundice and we  found out that he wasn't born with bile ducts! So the doctors did a surgery called a Kasai whitch is the reconstruction of his bile ducts. This surgery helped him out till he was 8 months old and then had upper GI bleeds and he was critical condition! We were life flighted to Cincinnati Ohio and that's where it took us 9 months waiting for a miracle.... A child from another mother saved my child's life. We will NEVER forget FEB 17th 2011! I praise God and I pray for that family who lost there angel to save my angel! If you scroll downwards there is some information for Biliary Atresia !! Also I made a video for you all of my precious baby!

Biliary atresia results in a progressive inflammatory process which may lead to cirrhosis of the liver. The infant looks normal at birth but developsjaundice after the age of 2 to 3 weeks with yellowing of the eyes and skin, light-colored stools and dark urine caused by the build up of the pigment called bilirubin in the blood. The abdomen may be swollen with a firm, enlarged liver. Weight loss and irritability develop as the jaundice increases.
There is one case of biliary atresia out of every 15,000 live births. Females are affected slightly more often than males.
The preferred treatment is to attach the small intestine directly to the liver at the spot where bile is found or expected to drain. Bile flow is re-established in approximately 80% of infants who are operated before 3 months of age. Of these, about 50% will have some bile drainage and as many as 30% will have complete bile drainage. About 20% of infants will not be helped by the procedure. In these cases, the only option is a liver transplant.

My brother and I worked hard making this Video of Ethan! Hope you enjoy it!

Many of you may be familiar with CardMonkey's awesome banner hops for kids... I was so inspired by them that I wanted to find another opportunity to do good with my crafting. I happened upon a volunteer at Birthday Magic at a work event & followed up with them. They loved the idea of handmade birthday banners, so I put out the call and I was lucky to have 15 awesome crafters join me! So today you will get to see everyone's creations!

If you've never heard of Birthday Magic, you can see their site here -

BirthdayMAGIC is a program of the Volunteer Center of Sacramento, which provides personalized monthly birthday parties to children currently living in Sacramento area homeless shelters, transitional living facilities, community programs or residential treatment centers.

The goal of BirthdayMAGIC is to brighten the lives of children by providing fun, meaningful and memorable birthday parties during what can be an awkward and challenging experience in their lives.

Each month, children living in these shelters will celebrate birthdays – through financial support, volunteer help and the BirthdayMAGIC program, these wonderful children will receive a birthday party thrown in their honor.
